Pirates conquer Patriots

Brewer answered back once more with a Brendon Deberry fourth-and-goal touchdown run. A failed two-point conversion led to the final score with Boaz out muscling Brewer 56-19.

Brewer will now look to recover from a quick 0-2 start, as their first year head coach leads them into the week to prepare for Etowah.

“It’s frustrating for me, but it’s probably more frustrating for them,” said Styles.

“I know they were looking for a quick turn around, but it’s going to take time. With as many young kids as we have, we had about 70 percent of our team playing the JV game earlier this week. Part of the battle is getting them to believe and responding to adversity. After something like this, it’s a tougher battle to fight for some the kids who have been fighting this battle for so long. We have to do the little things and take care of the easy things first. It starts and ends with me.”

Brewer travels to Etowah on Sept. 14.
