Danville man dies after vehicle leaves Hudson Memorial Bridge

By Eric Fleischauer

A Danville man died in the early morning hours of April 6 after his vehicle broke through the guardrail, went down the embankment and ended up in the river at the Hudson Memorial Bridge, according to Decatur police.

Michael Gene Knable, 55, of Danville, was pronounced dead at the scene by Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn.

Police said they were dispatched to the Hudson Memorial/U.S. 31 bridge at 1:50 a.m. after a report of debris on the roadway. They then observed damage to the guardrail and a partially submerged vehicle.

The Morgan County Rescue Squad, Decatur Fire & Rescue and Decatur Morgan EMS also responded to the scene.
