Pirates conquer Patriots

Boaz answered three more times in the second quarter. Wood completed passes to Turner Davis and Issac Scroggins to put the Pirates up 28-0 and a one-yard touchdown rush by Gilliland gave Boaz a commanding 34-0 lead heading into the locker room.

Boaz came out just as strong to start the first half with a 32-yard touchdown pass from Wesley Burns to Colby Stephens to build their lead to 42-0.

Brewer’s defense did stop the Boaz on two three-and-outs in the third quarter, while their offense began to build moment as well. With less than three minutes remaining in the quarter, Pritchett connected to Humphries for an eight yard touchdown pass to cut into the Pirates lead 42-7.

However, Pritchett was picked off on the following drive by Boaz’s Burns, who returned the ball down to Brewer’s 13-yard line. On the following play, Burns completed a 13-yard touchdown pass to Stephens giving Boaz a 49-7 lead heading into the fourth.

Patriots quarterback Weston Pritchett found his rhythm in the fourth quarter connecting on five consecutive passes including a 10-yard touchdown pass to Austin Crouch for a 49-13 score.

However, Pritchett through an interception on the following offensive drive to Boaz’s Matthew Smith who carried the ball down to Brewer’s four-yard line. Gage Cash turned the error into another Boaz touchdown giving them a 56-13 lead.
