City gets grant to repave Bethel Road

The City of Hartselle will receive a $1.1 million grant from the Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program to repave a portion of Bethel Road in front of F.E. Burleson Elementary School and the new Hartselle High School.

In a press release Thursday morning, Gov. Robert Bentley announced the 105 road and bridge rehabilitation projects that were included in the first round of funding for ATRIP.

Mayor Dwight Tankersley said the city applied for the funding since the project met ATRIP’s requirements. Of the $1.1 million approved for the project, $883,608 will be paid by the state while $220,902 will be paid through local funding.

Other Morgan County projects included a new bridge on Danville Road at Flint Creek for $3 million and resurfacing Decatur’s Church Street from 19th Street to Point Mallard Drive.
