Lady Tigers shut out Grissom

Audrey McClanahan hit a two-run home run in the third inning to help pace Hartselle to a win over Class 6A Grissom Monday afternoon.
Breanna Segars picked up the win, pitching seven innings and striking out five.
Catie Keel finished with two singles and an RBI; Kayla Orr had a double, a single and and RBI and Sara Long finished with two RBIs.
Hartselle improved to 7-3.
Danville 11, Vinemont 1
Mallory George finished 3-for-4 with two singles, a double and an RBI to help the Lady Hawks win their area opener in Danville Monday.
Whitney Haggamaker finished 4-for-4 with an RBI and Kassie Cowart, Bethany Evans and Nicole Linderman each had two singles.
Brittany Atkins pitched six innings to pick up the win, allowing just one unearned run.

Fairview 1, 1
Kristen Thompson and Brittany Atkins each pitched strong outings for Danville in a sweep of Class 4A Fairview on the road March 8.
Thompson pitched the game one win, working all seven innings and striking out 16 batters. She allowed just one hit and two walks.
Thompson also contributed at the plate, finishing 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Freshman Sarah Terry finished 2-for-3 with a stolen base for the Lady Hawks; Bethany Evans was 1-for-3 with two runs and two stolen bases and Kelsey Bell finished 1-for-1 with an RBI.
In game two, Atkins pitched six innings and struck out nine to pick up the win. She finished 2-for-4 with two doubles at the plate.
Michelle Smith was 3-for-4 with two singles, a home run and two RBIs for the Lady Hawks. Whitney Haggamaker was 2-for-3 with a stolen base; Hannah Little was 2-for-2 with two singles and Lindsey Simmons was 1-for-1 with a triple and an RBI.
Priceville 4, Athens 0
Jessica Hopper worked all seven innings for the Lady Bulldogs, allowing three hits and striking out six.
Emily Smith had three walks and Danielle Richard hit a triple. Hopper doubled and Caitlin Williams and Meaghan Bond each finished 2-for-3 with two singles.
