Funeral for Marie Goodwin May, 70, of Hartselle will be Thursday (today), Mar. 8, at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Revs. Ron Bishop and Jon Laidley officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing,
Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. May died Monday, Mar. 5, 2007, of brain cancer. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Washington Goodwin and Dellia Harris Goodwin. She was a lifelong resident of Hartselle and a 1954 graduate of the former Morgan County High School.
She was a devoted nurse who retired in 2001 after working at Decatur Orthopedic Clinic for more than 30 years. She was very spiritual and a long-time member of Bethel Baptist Church. She attended Bethlehem Baptist Church in recent years. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thurman (Jack) Ernest Goodwin and Herman Floyd Goodwin.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Hoyett L. May of Hartselle; three daughters, Cynthia May Canada and husband Larry of New Orleans, La., Sandra May Musgrave and husband Ken of Austin, Tex. and Teresa May of Birmingham; a brother, Charles Ferrell Goodwin of Gardendale; and two grandchildren, John and Emily Canada.
Pallbearers will be Larry Canada, Ken Musgrave, Herman Goodwin, Elen Ekola, John Canada, David Bunt, Edin Jenkins, M.D. and Paul Goodwin
