Third grade students at Barkley Bridge Elementary School were featured in the presentation of Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol” on Friday, Dec. 15 in the school concourse. The play was presented twice by two casts for the entertainment of fellow students, parents, faculty and guests.
The story centers around a stringy old businessman, Ebenezer Scrooge, and a dedicated, longtime employee, Bob Cratchitt, and his impoverished family.
Scrooge, a rich man, is determined to get the last ounce of creative energy from his employee even though he begs for a day off for the Christmas to be with his family and help to have an operation performed on his paralytic son, Tiny Tim.
Scrooge’s attitude begins to change when he is confronted by Christmas Spirits from the past, present and future.
In the end he gladly gives Cratchitt a raise in pay, foots the bill for Tiny Tim’s medical expenses and throws a lavish Christmas party for the Cratchitt family and all of the other families who work for him.
The role of Scrooge was played by Brandon Walker and Grant Jared. Bob Cratchitt was played by Jaxson Peebles and Jack Hundley.
