I know is isn’t just me – I’m sure lots of people feel as I do about our rights. I pray I’m not the only one who feels our Christian rights are in danger.

On the news recently I heard that a group of people were trying to stop a school from singing “Silent Night” in their Christmas program. They said the song intruded on their rights. Who has the right to sing whatever they want to?

Way back, when my older children were teenagers, one of their friends brought a new hit record over to play. I was busy as usual and not listening to the words and just tuning out the noise.

Of course their dad walked in and he caught some of the lyrics, which were very dirty. The record was made during “Woodstock,” so you older people know the year. They were spelling out a very offensive word that I had never heard in my growing up. The record got smashed and my teenagers were in trouble. In defense of my children, they had never heard it (the record) either.

My point is that filth was allowed to be on the air and everywhere. No one protested. We Christians (notice I said “we”) let that go. We did not stand up and protest they were corrupting our children.

Where are our rights? We have let them slip through the cracks and everything corrupt can be sung, but our songs of praise and love have been attacked. It’s time we stood up and stopped this madness. I’m sure we have rights too. We need to assert them.

Some day (I pray not) they may walk in our church and tell us we can’t sing songs of praise to our Savior.

We need to wake up!

I know Christians aren’t the majority but we have power over Satan if we will only use it.

In World War II when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, the Japanese Admiral Yamamoto is credited with having said “we have awakened a sleeping giant.” Well! The giant needs to wake up again and stand up against the enemy of all enemies.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I also hope we all took time to thank God for the best gift of all – His Son.

Journey Church held its Christmas production on Saturday, Dec. 17 and Sunday morning. They had standing room only Saturday night and a great crowd on Sunday. This was the best production ever – with live animals and angels that looked to be hovering over the baby and family. The baby was real, too. All in all it was wonderful and if you missed it, you missed something great.

Journey Church had a great tragedy over Christmas also. We lost a friend and sister in Christ and the Coots family lost a wife, mother, sister, and daughter – Sandra Coots went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday night. She had fought a long and hard battle with cancer, but like she said, she got to celebrate Jesus’ birthday with him!

The seniors from the center in Eva recently celebrated Christmas with a wonderful breakfast at Marcy’s in Eva. We had a great crowd.

All of our family enjoyed having our daughter and sister, Donna Hillyer visit us for two weeks. She flew home on the 20th to have Christmas with her family on Friday, December 23. The families of Summerford Nursing Home workers enjoyed a great meal to celebrate Christmas.

Also I attended a wonderful party with my daughter, Rosemary Bartram, for some of her friends at work at the home of Sonya Ryan. We all enjoyed great food and exchanged gifts and had fun visiting.

We ask prayer for Randy Coots and family, also Dorothy Hoover who fell and injured her back. Remember to pray for our country. Also remember Elizabeth Wood who is home bound.

Happy birthdays go out to Lacie Drinkard and Nikki Irish Kinney on the 29th. Also Jon Crawford on the 26th.
