Tigers win 2 of 3 in tournament

Hartselle’s Tigers (6-4) won 2 of the 3 games they played in the Scottsboro Holiday Basketball Tournament last week.

On Thursday they defeated North Jackson, 58-50, and Scottsboro, 64-45, before losing to Columbia of Huntsville 41-53 on Friday.

Aaron Wooley paced the Tigers against North Jackson by scoring 16 points. He was followed by Timbo Slaten with 11 points and Thomas Fleischman with 10 points.

Bubba Nicholson had 17 points to pace the losers. Gregg Chubb dropped in 10 points and Quan Lawrence followed with 10 points.

Slaten’s 15 points helped the Tigers blast Scottsboro in a second game on Thursday. Preston Adams sank 12 points and Wooley and Fleischman each had 10 points.

Tavares Tolliver scored 17 points to pace the host team and Monte Fennell added 10 points.

In Fridays semifinal contest, Hartselle was led by Slaten with 12 points and Prestyn Wallace had 8 points.

N. Crowell paced the winners with 16 points while J. Snell added 10 points.
