Prentis C. Hill

Funeral for Prentis C. Hill, 78, of Hartselle, was Wednesday, March 1, at 1:30 p.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Grad Tanner and Russ Beard officiating.
Burial was in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Hill died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert Hill and Tillman Hill, and a sister, Ruth Hill Brown.
He was employed by the Hartselle Fire Department from 1962 until 1984, and served as fire chief from 1974 until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Hornet from 1945 until 1946. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church for 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Powell Hill of Hartselle; two daughters, Kathy Jane Holmes and Jo Ann Hill Henry and husband Hugh, all of Hartselle; a brother, Rev. Junior Hill of Hartselle; four grandchildren, Jeff Holmes, Jason Holmes and wife Stacy, Ed Henry and wife Wendi and P.J. Henry and wife Kara; five great-grandchildren, Haden Barbee, Seth Holmes, Katie Henry, Mollie Henry and Olivia Henry.
Pallbearers were firefighters from the Hartselle Fire Department.
