Edward Oliver 'Ed' Baker

Edward Oliver "Ed" Baker, 77, of Hartselle went to be with his Lord on Jan. 22, 2006. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he was born in Morgan County on May 27, 1928, to Albert and Lillie Baker. He was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church on Bethel Road. He retired from Morgan County as District 1 commissioner.
A graveside service was Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at 1 p.m. at New Friendship Cemetery in Somerville with the Revs. Brad Roah and Clyde Ledlow officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Baker; two brothers, Lonnie and Roger Baker; and a son, Darrell Johnson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 and a half years, Martha Marie Roberts Baker; two daughters, Gail Montgomery and husband Don of Somerville and Rita Mixon and husband Ronnie of Decatur; three sons, Eddie Baker and wife Jeanie of Somerville, David Johnson Baker of Miami Beach, Fla. and Barry Baker of the Ryan community; two brothers, D.E. Baker of Athens and Stevie Baker of Decatur; five sisters, Clara Wagner of Brooksville, Vinnie Terry of Decatur, Carolyn Witt and husband John of Brooksville, Virginia Rollins and husband Eb of Trinity and Marjorie Huber and husband Larry of Petoskey, Mich.; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were nephews.
