Sue Hancock Lee

Sue Hancock Lee, 73, a former Decatur resident, died Sat., Sept. 17, 2011, at St. Clare Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

A celebration of her life will take place at a future date. Her remains were cremated according to her wishes.

Mrs. Lee was a native of West Frankfort, Ill., and a former resident of Birmingham. She lived in Columbia, Mo., before moving to St. Louis in 1974. She married Danville native Dr. Arthur Lee Jr. in 1973.

She is a graduate of Central Methodist College and before retirement worked as a registered nurse. She was a faithful member of New Horizons United Methodist Church, a dog lover, devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and a dear friend to many. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made New Horizons United Methodist Church in Columbia, Mo., the Alzheimer’s Association, or a charity of one’s choice.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Jeff Strickland of St. Louis, Mo. and Tom Strickland of Colorado; a brother, Don Hancock of Colorado; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
