Danville ends week with 1-3 finish at Wallace

Danville (19-17) went 1-3 in pool play at the Wallace State Tournament on Saturday.

Guntersville defeated Danville 25-9, 29-27. The Lady Hawks then fell to county rival Decatur 18-25, 25-19, 15-13.

Danville rallied and defeated Gardendale in two tough games, 25-19, 25-21. Winston County then beat Danville 22-25, 25-20, 16-14 in the Lady Hawks’ final match of the day.

Statistical leaders included Sydni Shelton with 40 kills, three blocks, 10 aces and 32 digs.

Jada Callahan added 27 kills and 22 digs.

Haley Rae Garnett racked up 67 assists for the four matches along with six aces.

Lindsey Vinzant also had seven aces while Keri Callahan finished with 21 digs.

Lady Hawks take care of business on road

Danville picked up two victories on Sept. 15 in a tri-match at Good Hope.

The Lady Hawks beat Holly Pond in a tight match, 27-25, 25-18.

Then, Danville beat the hosts in a competitive three-game match, 26-24, 13-25, 15-12.

Shelton led the team with 22 kills, 11 aces and 17 digs.

Garnett had 10 kills and 23 assists.

Jada Callahan had 10 kills and Keri Callahan had 17 digs.

Lady Hawks struggle against tough opponents

The Danville Lady Hawks struggled with Madison Academy and Austin Sept. 13.

Madison Academy took down the Lady Hawks 25-23, 25-20 while Austin defeated Danville 25-28, 21-25, 15-12.

Shelton led the team once again with 23 kills, two aces and 24 digs. Jada Callahan collected 16 digs and 12 kills.

Garnett made 35 assists while Megan Luker led the team in blocks with three. Keri Callahan also had 16 digs.
