The Morgan County High School Class of 1974 announces its 30-year class reunion, to be held Friday, Aug. 6, and Saturday, Aug. 7, in Hartselle. All class members are welcome to attend the planning meeting on Thursday, May 20 at 6 p.m. at the office of Dr. Mark Hendrix. The Cancer Support Group meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at The Caring Place. Any person with any type cancer is invited to attend this time of fellowship. For more information, call 773-2673.
May 13
The Decatur Civic Chorus will present "The magical Musical World of Walt Disney" Pops Concert at the Princess Theatre for the Performing Arts on Thursday, May 13 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10, or by season membership, and are available by calling 350-6887.
The annual Waddell family reunion will be held Sunday, May 16 at Lakeview Lodge in Hartselle, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish to share. For more information, call Erline Ballew at 773-9573.
May 17
Concerts by the River 2004 continues Monday, May 17 at Rhodes Ferry Park in Decatur featuring the Athens High School Jazz Band at 6 p.m., Charlie Lyle Combo at 6:45 p.m. and Marvin Hale at 7:30 p.m. Bring a picnic, blanket or lawn chair and enjoy this free event.
May 18
Parents Against Drug Abuse is a parent supported network where concerned parents can go learn about drug abuse, causes, warning signs, preventive measures, and where insured and uninsured can go for help. The group will meet May 18 at 7 p.m. at Sparkman Civic Center with a speaker from New Vision Detox Center. All parents are encouraged to attend. No registration is required.
May 20
A Grief and Bereavement seminar will be held Thursday, May 20, 9-10 a.m. at the Pleasant Place building with Rhonda Johnson LPC, counselor from New Day Senior Adult Mental Health Program. The event is free. Register by calling Becky at 751-3000, ext. 598.
May 21
The American Red Cross will hold a community blood drive Friday, May 21, 12:30-6 p.m. at Falkville City Hall.
May 22
Cotaco Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, May 22, 6 a.m.-10 a.m., with pancakes and all the trimmings, at Station No. 1.
The Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) Branch 278 will host a picnic at Sparkman Civic Center in the walking area Saturday, May 22 at noon. For details and to RSVP by May 20, call Gene Aittala 773-6283 or Jim Sutton at 650-5748.

The 19th annual Gadsden RiverFest will be held June 11 and 12 on the banks of the Coosa River featuring country music artists Darryl Worley and Patty Loveless on June 11 and Grand Funk Railroad and Johnny Rivers on June 12. For more information, call 256-543-3472.
All month
Hartselle's New Beginnings Quilt Guild meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the basement of First Christian Church on East Main Street. Open to all who are interested in quilt making, the guild is focused on the beginning quilt maker to help them learn how to make a new block each month and new techniques used to make them. Karate classes are being held at Sparkman Civic Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. with instructor Aaron Clairday of Clairday's Karate. For more information, call 355-7444.
Aerobics classes are being held at Sparkman Civic Center on Monday, Thursday and Friday mornings at 8 a.m. Steps are available. Please bring a mat for floor exercises. Cost is $20 per month or $3.50 per visit. The first visit is free. Lori Shaneyfelt is the instructor. For more information, call 773-2581. An instructor is needed for evening classes.
Dance classes are being held at Sparkman Civic Center on Monday afternoons with Dale Serrano Studio of Professional Arts teaching ballet, tap and jazz. Ages 2 1/2 through adult. For more information, call 1-800-582-0951
Weight Watchers classes are being held at Sparkman Civic Center on Mondays at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m., and Fridays at 9 a.m. Call 1-800-651-6000 for more information.
Free personal income tax help is available through the AARP Tax-Aide Program for middle and low income taxpayers, with special attention to those age 60 and older. AARP tax counselors will be available by appointment at Sparkman Civic Center (773-2581) on Thursdays, and at the Morgan Baptist Association (773-5243) on Thursdays and Fridays, now through April 15. AARP membership is not required.
American All-Star is having a summer dance/drill team camp at Auburn University June 4-7. The camp is open to all junior high and high school color guard/flag teams, dance teams and majorette squads. For more information, call 1-800-STAR-403.
The Senior Nutrition Center at Sparkman Civic Center is available for area seniors, ages 60 and older, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., for food, fellowship and fun. The meal fee is a daily donation of 50 cents, but the fellowship is free. To reserve a meal, call 773-0786 by 10:30 a.m. on the day you plan to attend. If you need transportation, call 351-4650. Homebound meals are also available for those unable to come to the center by calling 351-4781 or 117-0786.
