This is the season of the year when students get some well deserved recognition for the work they have done in school since last fall.
1907 -April 29, The commencement exercises of the Falkville College began this morning and will conclude on May 2. Many special features will be connected with graduation and numerous visitors are expected to be present. Falkville is one of the most noted educational centers in this section of the state.
1948 -April 29, Sue Robinson, Carolyn Stewart, Elizabeth Peck, Nancy Roberts, Betty Lou Nelson, Audrey Bellew, Rachel Holloday, Sarah Slate, Vivian Blankenship, and Ruby Steed were senior three honor roll students at MCHS this spring.
1936 -April 30, City school honor roll students for this semester included Joe Speake, Robert Stephenson, and Beth Howell.
2000 – April 30, Hartselle edged Demopolis 2-1 in the championship game of the Jasper Lady Viking Invitational softball tournament at Walker High School today. Winning pitcher Katie Tillman allowed only five hits and struck out three.
1935 -May 1, Buford Kracke was host to the Literary Club at her home this afternoon. Miss Kracke aspires to a teaching career and seems certain to achieve her goal.
1938 -May 1, Elizabeth McBride of Trinity is spending the weekend in Hartselle with her sister, Grayce. Both of these outstanding young women undoubtedly have brilliant careers ahead of them in the teaching field.
1941 -May 2, "Red John" Puryear, Hartselle native, has been selected for membership in ODK, a national service organization, at the University of Alabama.
1947 -May 3, Mr. and Mrs. George Stephenson are in Louisville, Ky., to attend the graduation of their son, Rev. Billy Stephenson, at the Baptist seminary there.
1947 -May 4, Elizabeth Peck has been chosen president of the National Honor Society at Morgan County High School.
1962 -May 5, J. C. Pettey is preparing to take office as Morgan County superintendent of education.
