Meth lab found

By Staff
Staff Reports, Hartselle Enquirer
A Morgan County man is in jail following a routine traffic stop in Huntsville that led to the discovery of a methamphetamine lab.
On Feb. 27, officers with the Huntsville Police Department stopped a vehicle driven by Dale Bishop of Hulaco. Officers received information Bishop had purchased precursor chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamines. Agents with the Madison-Morgan County HIDTA, Marshall County Drug Enforcement Unit and the Morgan County Sheriff's Drug Task Force went to Bishop's Hulaco home, where they searched an outbuilding.
In the outbuilding, agents discovered a methamphetamine laboratory and seized more than a pound of the drug. The lab consisted of glassware, tubing, gas generators, cooking items, acids, bases, ephedrine and a large-amount of multi-phase liquids, all items used in making and processing methamphetamine. Agents also found a quantity of methamphetamine oil.
The outbuilding was equipped with surveillance cameras so Bishop could see anyone who approached the building.
Bishop was charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance in the second degree.
