Teen loses cancer battle

Lindsey Saint, 14, a freshman at Brewer High School, died at Children's Hospital in Birmingham Monday, Jan. 19, from complications in an ongoing battle with cancer.
Principal Frances Couey said Lindsey was a straight A student and a special person. "She never complained and kept a positive outlook on life," Couey said. "She was a fighter and will be missed by all of us here at Brewer High School."
Students were allowed to observe a moment of silence in the school's concourse Tuesday morning and will be excused early from classes to attend funeral services today at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Valhermoso Cemetery.
Lindsey was a member of Valhermoso Baptist Church and the winner of the Morgan County Volunteer Robert D. Miller Youth Leadership Award.
She is the daughter of Buddy and Sherry Saint of Somerville, the brother of Devin Sanderson of Somerville, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Harmon of Somerville and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Saint of Lacey's Spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or to Sunshine Kids Foundation.
