John L. Boyer Sr.

Funeral for John L. Boyer Sr., 64, of Hartselle was Friday, Dec. 12, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hartselle with the Rev. Jeff Redmond officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Gum Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Boyer died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born June 20, 1939, in Morgan County to Robert E. Boyer and Mary Ellen Tapscott Boyer. He was a retired City of Decatur firefighter and owned and operated Southern Pest Control. He loved cabinet making and was a stained glass artist. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hartselle. Mr. Boyer was the brother to the late Pat Boyer, R. L. "Buck" Boyer and Mary A. Boyer.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Boyer of Hartselle; two sons, John Boyer, Jr. of Madison and Todd Boyer of Hartselle; one daughter, Janet Boyer of Asheville, NC; three brothers, Paul Boyer of Deer Creek, Ill. and David Boyer and Brent Boyer, both of Hartselle; three sisters, Helen Baker of Green Valley, Ill., Sally Weiss of Washington, Ill. and Beryl Hess of South Pekin, Ill; and three grandchildren, Katherine Boyer, John "J.P." Boyer III and Jackson Boyer.
Pallbearers were Mike Hill, Dennis Minor, Jimmy Boyer, Russell Johnson, Jerry Holt and Tommy Hill.
Honorary pallbearers were Clinton Simmons and the City of Decatur firefighters.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation.
