Hartselle Drama makes a splash with “The SpongeBob Musical”

Get ready for a whimsical underwater adventure as Hartselle Drama takes center stage March 21-23 at the Hartselle High School auditorium with their production of “The SpongeBob Musical.” Drawing its regular season to a close, Hartselle Drama promises a fast-paced, award-winning spectacle based on the beloved animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg.

This rendition of the beloved musical comes with an eco-conscious twist, infusing the storyline with themes of environmental challenges faced by Bikini Bottom citizens.

The production resonates strongly with ongoing environmental efforts in the Tennessee Valley, according to Alyssa Dobbs-Langford who is the student marketing director for the troupe.

“More than just a musical, it serves as a creative and impactful platform for students to address current issues and showcase their commitment to making a positive difference,” Dobbs-Langford said.

Director Lisa King is thrilled to bring this ambitious piece to the stage, aiming to transport the audience into the vibrant and fantastical world of Bikini Bottom.

“From the moment they walk in the auditorium doors, I want people to feel like they’re in Bikini Bottom,” King said.

The cast, consisting of 58 students from Hartselle Intermediate, Junior High and High schools, is led by King. Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of more than 50 creatives and crew members have worked tirelessly to bring the world of Bikini Bottom to life.

“The SpongeBob Musical” is scheduled for public performances from March 21-23, with special shows for local schools on March 19-20. Tickets are available on msbtickets.com.

Don’t miss the chance to dive into the undersea excitement of “The SpongeBob Musical” and witness the creative prowess of Hartselle Drama.

This production is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals. For additional information, please contact Lisa King at lisa.king@hartselletigers.com or 256-612-1208.
