Falkville opens 2024 with sweep of Athens Bible

The Falkville boys’ and girls’ basketball teams opened up 2024 with a sweep of Athens Bible. The girls won 45-36, while the boys won 74-72 in games played on Jan. 2. Two days later, the girls defeated Addison 59-38, while the boys lost 61-59.

Falkville 74, Athens Bible 72

Four players scored double figures to lead Falkville to a 74-72 win over Athens Bible. The Blue Devils trailed 32-20 at halftime but outscored the Trojans 54-40 in the second half to earn the win.

Eli Harris, Cayden Butler and Logan Fowler each scored 19 points to lead Falkville. Dawson Fowler added 16. Harris and Cedric Beavers each had eight rebounds, while Dawson Fowler had seven rebounds and three steals.

Addison 61, Falkville 59
Falkville’s fourth-quarter rally fell short in their 61-59 loss to Addison. The Bulldogs led 32-24 at the half and 49-37 heading into the fourth quarter. The Blue Devils outscored Addison 22-12 in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough. This was the series’ sixth consecutive game, decided by three points or less.

Butler scored a game-high 28 points to lead Falkville. He hit six three-pointers. Dawson Fowler added 10 points and seven rebounds, while Harris had seven points and six rebounds. Logan Fowler finished with six points and 10 rebounds.

Girls
Falkville 45, Athens Bible 36

The Lady Blue Devils jumped out to a 19-10 lead after one quarter on their way to a 45-36 win over Athens Bible. Falkville’s lead was cut to 27-16 at halftime, but they outscored the Lady Trojans 18-10 in the second half to secure the win.

Ellie Cate Hill, Kaitlyn Bullard and Leah Pierce each had 10 points to lead the Lady Blue Devils. Hill added 10 rebounds, while Pierce had six. Abbey Grace Tomlin and Ivy Gilstrap added seven points. Tomlin finished with five rebounds, six assists and four steals. Bullard had seven steals.

Falkville 59, Addison 38
The Lady Blue Devils cruised to a 59-38 win over Addison. Falkvile led 29-16 at the half and 44-24 heading into the fourth quarter.

Tomlin scored a game-high 21 points to lead Falkvile. She also had six assists, five steals and four rebounds. Pierce finished with 16 points, while Hill had 11 points and nine rebounds.
