Prep football roundup: Falkville, Danville close region play with wins

Falkville closed out region play with a 46-6 win on the road at Tharptown to end a four-game slide in region games.

Landon Powers passed for three touchdowns to three different receivers, including tosses to Kole Fitzgerald and Cash Lawrimore in the second quarter as the Blue Devils carried a 19-0 lead into halftime.

Falkville pushed the lead to 32-0 with rushing touchdowns by Powers and Jackson Edmonson in the third quarter.

Powers added another touchdown, this time to Logan Fowler, in the fourth quarter, while Denver Comstock rushed for a touchdown to extend their lead to 46-0 before Tharptown got in the board late with a rushing touchdown.

The Blue Devils piled up 491 yards of total offense while holding the Wildcats to 264.

Falkville (4-5) closes the season on Friday as Winston County (4-5) comes to town.

Danville 64, Brindlee Mountain 0

The Hawks picked up their third win as they went on the road and defeated Brindlee Mountain 64-0.

Jace Glenn was responsible for seven touchdowns, leading the Hawks to their second region win. He rushed for four touchdowns and passed for three more.

Ben Ellenburg caught two of Glenn’s touchdown passes, while Christian Rodriguez rushed for over 100 yards and had a touchdown on the ground.

Danville (3-6) will travel to Brewer (3-6) to close the season.

West Point 27, Brewer 13

The Brewer Patriots saw their postseason plans unravel in the final three minutes in a 27-13 loss on the road at West Point.

Brewer took an early 7-0 lead on a Walker Latham touchdown and carried the lead in halftime, up 7-6.

The Patriots extended their lead to 13-6 on a CJ Watson touchdown run. The score was set up by Brewer recovering a Warriors fumble on the second-half opening kickoff.

They held the lead until 3:35, remaining in the third when West Point scored a rushing touchdown to tie the game at 13-13.

The Warriors broke the stalemate with a rushing touchdown with 2:48 remaining in the fourth.

Brewer had a final chance to tie the game or take the lead, but unfortunately, West Point picked off a Patriots pass and returned it for a touchdown, sealing the 14-point win.

Brewer (3-6) closes the season on Friday with a county matchup with Danville (3-6).
