Prep football roundup: Blue Devils, Hawks come up short

The Falkville Blue Devils and the Danville Hawks came out on the losing end of games last week.

Addison 28, Falkville 6

The Blue Devils fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter and couldn’t mount a comeback in their 28-6 loss to Addison.

Falkville’s lone score came on a Landon Pawers’ six-yard touchdown pass to Kohl Fitzgerald in the third quarter, which cut the Bulldogs’ lead to 14-6.

Powers finished with 158 yards passing, a touchdown, and 45 yards rushing on 12 carries. Dawson Fowler had 102 yards receiving on four receptions, while Cash Lawrimore had four catches for 40 yards. Denver Comstock and Brodie Bennet each had 40 yards rushing.

Falkville (3-5, 1-4) will travel to Tharptown on Friday.

Vinemont 32, Danville 19

The Hawks came up short in their final attempt to make the 2023 playoffs, losing to Vinemont 32-19.

The Eagles jumped out to an 18-0 lead midway through the second quarter. The Hawks battled back to draw with five at 18-13 early in the third quarter.

Vinemont outscored Danville 14-6 in the third quarter and held on for the 13-point win.

The Hawks (2-6, 1-4) will travel to Brindlee Mountain on Friday.
