Local student-athletes compete in AHSAA All-Star Week

Several local student-athletes were chosen to play in this year’s AHSAA All-Star Week games in Montgomery. One local coach was also selected to participate. Area schools represented were Hartselle, Brewer, Danville and Priceville.

Hartselle’s Blayne Godfrey played in the softball series and was coached by Danville head coach Christy Ferguson. The North finished in a 3-3 tie in game one and lost game two 6-5. Godfrey singled and scored two runs in game one.

Hartselle’s Owen Bennich played in the boy’s soccer match, won by the North 6-3. Bennich put the North up 3-2 early in the second half. His goal was the first of four North goals in a ten-minute time span.

Brewer’s Autumn Betts and Priceville’s Anna Katherine Hopkins ran in the Girl’s Cross Country race. Brewer’s Betts finished second at 19.23.72, while Priceville’s Hopkins finished at 23.04.90. The two helped lead the North to a dominating win over the South.
