Standouts of the week

It was another exciting week of baseball and softball in the Hartselle area. Below are some of the standouts for the week ending April 15.

Softball

Blayne Godfrey, Hartselle: Godfrey tossed a one-hit shutout in a 2-0 win over Muscle Shoals, striking out 18 over seven innings of work. She also had a hit and drove in both Hartselle runs.

Breia Rusk, Brewer: Rusk had two hits and four RBIs in an 8-6 win over East Limestone on Tuesday.

Hannah Tillman, Danville: Tillman homered and drove in five runs in an 18-1 win over Brindlee Mountain on Tuesday.

Elizabeth Murphy, Priceville: Murphy homered and had three RBI in Priceville’s 17-6 win over West Morgan.

Bentley Black, Priceville: Black had two home runs and eight RBI as Priceville improved to 30-5.

Wrozlie Barnett, Priceville: Barnett had three hits and an RBI in Priceville’s win over West Morgan and added a home run and three RBI in their 17-0 win over Fairview.

Kirsten Segars, Priceville: Segars had three hits and two RBI in a win over West Morgan. She added a home run in their win over Falkville.

Baseball

Wes Walker, Priceville: Walker went 2-for-3 with a grand slam and six RBIs in a 13-0 win over East Lawrence on Tuesday.

Greyson Howard, Hartselle: Howard pitched a one-hit shutout in an 11-0 win over rival Cullman on Tuesday, striking out three over five innings of work. He also had two hits, including a double and one RBI.

Ty Parker, Priceville: Parker had a pair of hits and four RBIs in a win over East Lawrence on Tuesday.

Zach Chaney, Priceville: Chaney had a home run, a double, and six RBI in Priceville’s 18-0 win over East Lawrence.

Thomas Kerby and Colman Gann, Priceville: Kerby and Gann combined for a one-hit shutout in Priceville’s 18-0 win over East Lawrence.

Peyton Steele, Hartselle: Steele had a home run and two RBI in Hartselle’s 11-0 win over Cullman and then had a home run and three RBI in the Tigers’ series-clinching 6-5 victory.

Coleman Mizell, Hartselle: Mizell had five hits, including a home run, a double, and five RBI, in Hartselle’s three-game sweep of Cullman.
