Priceville baseball sweeps Haleyville to open area play

The Priceville Bulldogs (11-2) baseball team swept Haleyville in the teams’ first area series of the season. The Bulldogs outscored the Lions 29-9 in the three-game series.

Priceville 12, Haleyville 5
Zach Chaney had two doubles and three RBI to lead Priceville to a 12-5 victory in game one. JoJo Garrison picked up the win after striking out six and allowing three earned runs in six innings. He helped his cause with a hit and two RBI. Brayden Burney had three hits and an RBI, while Thomas Kerby added two hits and an RBI.

Priceville 11, Haleyville 0
Kerby struck out 15 Haleyville batters in the Bulldog’s 11-0 win to secure the series. He pitched a complete game gem for Priceville, allowing four hits and four walks in seven innings. Chaney had two doubles and three RBI while scoring three runs to lead the Bulldogs’ offense. Jackson Prickett had two hits and three RBI, while Xander Gaines had three hits and two RBI.

Priceville 7, Haleyville 4
The Bulldogs scored five runs in the opening inning on their way to a 7-4 win in the series’ final game. Chaney hit his fifth double of the series and scored two runs to lead Priceville. Prickett walked twice and scored two runs, while Garrison had two hits and an RBI while scoring a run. Prickett pitched six innings to pick up the win. He allowed one run while striking out five.

Falkville 10, Vinemont 5
Caden Burnett went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and pitched five ⅓ innings to lead Falkville to a 10-5 victory over Vinemont. He allowed a run on two hits while striking out nine. Dawson Fowler added three hits and an RBI, while Logan Fowler and Owen Teague each had a hit and an RBI.

Brewer 14, Brindlee Mountain 3
Chase Smith had two hits and two RBI to lead Brewer to a 14-3 win over Brindlee Mountain. Justin Brooks had two RBI, while Logan Powers added three hits. Lane Owen pitched a complete game for the win, allowing two earned runs while striking out 10.

Danville 8, Clements 6
Gage Taylor was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI to lead Danville to an 8-6 win over Clements. Sawyer Tapscott and Kason Jeffries each had two hits and an RBI. Reece Cowart pitched five innings to get the win, striking out six.
