Tigers softball picks up win over Huntsville

The Hartselle Tigers softball team split games with 7A Huntsville and Sparkman this past week. The Tigers picked up a 6-1 win over the Lady Panthers while losing 9-5 to the Lady Senators.

Hartselle 6, Huntsville 1
The Tigers picked up a 6-1 over Huntsville behind the strong pitching of Auburn commit Blayne Godfrey. She pitched a complete game, allowing one run on two hits while striking out 11.

Chloe Gray doubled and drove in two runs to lead Hartselle (7-4) Hartselle. Brantley Drake and Katie Norgard each had a hit and an RBI, while Katie Gillott had two hits.

Sparkman 9, Hartselle 5
Hartselle fell to Sparkman 9-5 in the Tigers’ first home game. The Tigers trailed 9-0 before plating five runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Kaelyn Jones had two hits, two runs scored and three steals to lead Hartselle (7-5). Brantley Drake had two hits, while Brooklyn Styles added a hit and two RBI. Katie Norgard added a double and a run scored, while Virginia Hoyle and Katie Gillot each had a hit and an RBI.

Sarah Bowling took the loss after allowing nine runs on 12 hits in five innings. Sofia Hutson pitched two innings in relief, allowing one hit while striking out three.
