James “Cliff” Barger

Funeral service for James Clifford Barger Sr. “Cliff” 73, was held Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Alred officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Lawrence Cove Cemetery. Mr. Barger died Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at his residence in Georgia. He was born February 4, 1949, in Pontiac, Michigan, to Clifford Barger and Mary Sherrod Stack. He was the owner and operator of Superior Auto Glass in
Acworth, Ga. for more than 30 years. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran. Preceding him in death were his parents and a son, James Clifford, Jr. Survivors include wife, Sherry Kinney Barger; son, Jeff Barger (Wendy); sisters, Cindy Caron (Ken) and Melinda Smith (Chuck), and Madera Barger; daughter-in-law, Cheri Barger; brothers, Stanley Barger (Lisa) and David Barger (Arlie); grandson, Caden Barger; step-granddaughter, Shelby Johnson. Pallbearers were family and friends.

Funeral service for Rita Barnett, 62, was. held Monday, January 23, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Drinkard officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens. Mrs. Barnett died Thursday, January 19, 2023, surrounded by love, at her residence. She was born December 24, 1960, in Illinois, to Reba Nichols. She was employed by Wolverine Tube in the brazing department, prior to her passing. She loved her family with all of her heart. Rita enjoyed sewing, cooking, riding motorcycles and camping. Preceding her in death were her mother, a son, Adam Barnett, and a sister, Lynn Carden. Survivors include husband, Frankie Barnett; sons, Daniel Barnett (Elizabeth) and Kyle Barnett (Chrissy); daughter-in-law, Samantha Hodge; grandchildren, Makenzie (Brett), Hunter, Eve and Rory. Pallbearers were Daniel Barnett, Kyle Barnett, Nathan Evans, John Nave, Jason Hooker and Jeff Carden.

Funeral service for Opal Ferguson, 97, was held Monday, January 23, 2023 at 12 p.m. at Enon Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Ledbetter officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Enon Baptist Cemetery in Lawrence County. Mrs. Ferguson died Thursday, January 19, 2023 at NHC Healthcare. She was born Monday, May 4, 1925, in Lawrence County to Biddie Lee Johnson and Muriel Sullivan Johnson. She was a homemaker for her family and a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Ernie
Ferguson; a son, Jeffery Devon Ferguson; siblings, Wendall Johnson, Ronnie Pete Johnson, John Lee Johnson, Margaret Sanderson and Willene Hensley. Survivors include sons, Byron Ferguson (Wanda) and Jerry Ferguson (Jane); daughters, Anita Lanius (Paul Fisher) and Jennifer Gilmer (David); brothers, Don Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, and Kenny “Frog” Johnson; sisters, Patsy Blaxton, Peggy McCulloch, Andrea Orr, Sandra Jackson, Kathy Brown, and Johnnie Sharon Appleton; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Chris Ferguson, Scott Ferguson, Zachary Ferguson, Paxton Ferguson, Keith Ferguson and Kenny Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers were Don and Jimmy Johnson.

Rodger Darryl Terry of Hartselle, Ala. died January 8, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer. He was born March 6, 1960 in Morgan County to Loyal Lee Terry and Edna Pauline Self Terry. Darryl was a skilled woodcraftsman for most his adult life. At the time of death, he was employed by Decatur City Park and Recreation. Darryl was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Kevin Terry; and his nephew, Jeremy Johnson. He lived for God and his family He was loved dearly and will be tremendously missed. Survivors include two daughters, Shea Puckett and Shannon Lawrimore; two stepson, Daniel Teague and Sevie Teague; one sister, Pam Johnson (Terry); five grandchildren, Kane Campbell, Remy Campbell, Christian Lawrimore, Sophia Laymon, Ava Teague; Kristie Johnson, Shelly Huggins; one great-great niece, Brooke Alexander; three great nephews, Drayden Mason, Tatum Huggin and Xander Huggins.
