Are you raising up your voice for Jesus?

By Todd Barrier

In Acts 2, Peter preaches one of the most effective and greatest sermons in history. Perhaps the greatest outside of Jesus Himself. In this sermon, Jews are gathered from all over the world. It says that Peter stood up and raised his voice (2:14). Soon after that sermon the Bible says people were cut to the heart and asked what they were supposed to do (2:37.)

Peter’s response comes in Acts 2:38…Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

The Bible then says that about 3,000 souls did this and were added to them (2:41.) The church had been established. Wow, simply by standing up and raising his voice about Jesus 3,000 people were saved that day and billions more since. The lesson here is if we keep the good news of Jesus inside, we can’t help anyone. However, if we stand up and let the world hear His story through our voices, we can help change the world.

We can’t sit down and be quiet, we have to stand up and shout His Word. Are you raising up your voice for Jesus?
