College Street Players embark to ‘whole new world’

By Staff Reports

Experience a “whole new world” with Jasmine, Aladdin and the Genie when the College Street Players present their production of “Aladdin Jr.” Feb. 24-26.

Disney’s “Aladdin Jr.” is based on the 1992 Academy Award-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns his true worth lies deep within.

Aladdin and his three friends, Babkak, Omar and Kassim, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of Princess Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character.

This new adaptation of the beloved story includes expanded characters, new songs, and more thrills.

All performances will be at Hartselle High School Auditorium nightly at 7 p.m., with a 2 p.m. matinee Feb. 26.

Tickets can be purchased online at collegestreetplayers.org or at the door. Tickets are $12 for general admission, $10 for seniors and students and free for those 3 years and younger.
