Tigers end regular season with loss at Mae Jemison

The Tigers closed out the regular season with a 67-43 loss on the road at Mae Jemison.

Hartselle jumped out to a 6-0 lead early in the first quarter behind Key and Ward baskets, and the Tigers kept the pressure on with a 5-4 run to extend their lead to 11-4. The Jaguars, however, responded with a 9-0 run to take a 13-11 lead.

The Tigers scored the final two points of the first quarter to tie the game at 13-13 heading to the second quarter.

The Tigers succumbed to Mae Jemison’s pressure over the second and third quarters. The Jaguars outscored Hartselle 42-16 to take a 55-29 lead into the fourth quarter.

Ward and Dunn combined for eight points in the second quarter, while Dunn, Ward, and Dominic Simmons scored eight in the third quarter.

After Mae Jemison opened the fourth quarter with a 9-4 run, the Tigers showed a little life with a 10-4 run to close the game. Dunn, Brayden Thomas, Kohl Key, and Smothers combined for the 10 points.

Ward finished with 15 points to lead Hartselle.
