Boys Basketball Roundup: Danville clinches regular-season area championship

Danville 47, Vinemont 44
Danville improved to 5-0 in area play and clinched the regular-season championship with a 47-44 win over Vinemont. The Hawks will host the area tournament in early February.

Danville (16-5) led 15-9 after the first quarter but trailed 28-22 at halftime. The Hawks outscored Vinemont 25-16 in the second half to get the win.

Kohl Randolph’s double-double led the Hawks, as he finished with 29 points and 10 rebounds. JoJo Whisenant added 12 points and five rebounds.

West Morgan 73, Danville 37
Danville fell to West Morgan for the third time this season in a 73-37 loss on the road. The Hawks fell behind 26-7 following the first quarter and couldn’t recover.

Kohl Randolph led Danville with 14 points.

Carson Muse led West Morgan with 20 points, including 14 in the first quarter.

Falkville 54, Hatton 42
The Blue Devils improved to 15-8 with a 54-42 win on the road at Hatton.

Falkville 56, Addison 54
The Blue Devils avenged a loss earlier in the season to Addison with a 56-54 win on the road Jan. 11.

The game was tied 25-25 at halftime; however, Falkville outscored the Bulldogs 31-29 in the second half to get the win and improve to 3-3 in the area.

Avery Miller finished with 17 points and five rebounds to lead the Blue Devils. Colton Hooper added 13 points, while Camden Reid netted 12.

Westminster Christian 40, Priceville 23
Priceville fell to 3-2 in area play following a 40-23 loss to Westminster Christian at home Jan. 11. The Bulldogs fell behind 15-0 following the first quarter in the loss.

Elijah Hopkins finished with seven points to lead Priceville (15-4). Jake Langlois had five points, and Chris Thomas added four.
