Priceville cross-country teams qualify for state

The Priceville boys and girls cross-country teams qualified for state with their performances at the 4A Section 4 meet at John Hunt Park in Huntsville this past Thursday.

The boys finished first in their section for the first time in school history. Adam Taylor came in first, Maclain Lawson finished third and Carson Taylor finished seventh. Adam Taylor finished 12 seconds ahead of runner-up Seth Peebles of Westminster Christian.

Brody Long, Chase Akridge, Chandler Dawson, and Hayden Witt finished in the top 31 for Priceville to help win the top spot.

The girls finished third overall and qualified for state for the first time in school history. Elizabeth Cain in second, Mae Vick in seventh, and Aubrey Weddington in eighth were Top 10 finishers for the Lady Bulldogs.

Brooks and Deshler’s girls finished in the top two team spots.

Priceville’s Georgia Thrash, Anna Pilkington, Bell Thrash, and McKenna Griffith finished in the top 40 to help Priceville take the third spot and claim a trip to the state meet.

The state meet will take place on Nov. 6 at Oakville. The girls will run at 11:10 a.m., and the boys will run at 12:10 p.m.

Brewer’s girls finished third in the 5A Section 4 meet, held at Cold Springs this past Thursday. Rose Betts finished fourth, and her sister Autumn finished fifth, to lead the Lady Patriots. Erin Hurlbutt finished in the top 20.
