Blue Devils’ season comes to an end on the road at Spring Garden

The Falkville Blue Devils’ baseball season ended last Saturday with their game three loss to Spring Garden in the second round of the 2A state playoffs.

The Blue Devils won game one 7-1 behind a potent offense and a strong pitching performance by Colton Hooper. Peyton Sallee led the Falkville offense with two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs. Dawson Fowler, Andrew Jones, and Hooper each had two hits for the Blue Devils. Hooper pitched a complete game, allowing one run on eight hits. 

The Panthers bounced back with an 18-2 win in game two to force game three on Saturday. Caden Burnett had two hits while Jones had a home run for Falkville.

In game three, the Blue Devils jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and extended it to 8-2, heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. Spring Garden scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 10-8 lead and held on for the 10-9 victory. Sallee was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Hooper finished with three hits and an RBI, while Canden Reid had two hits and two RBIs.

Falkville finishes the season 23-12.
