Wednesday girls basketball notebook: Lady Tigers win DOC Classic

Hartselle defeated Mae Jemison  45-39 to win the Decatur Orthopaedic Clinic Championship Wednesday evening.

The Lady Tigers led 12-7 after the first and maintained the lead throughout to get the win.

Lillyanna Cartee had a game-high 20 points to lead Hartselle (11-2). Masyn Marchbanks added 14.

Saniah Parker finished with 18 points to lead Mae Jemison, while Kesiah Rogers scored 12.

Marchbanks was named the tournament’s MVP, while Cartee and Hailey Holshouser joined her on the all-tournament team.

Hartselle 44, Fairview 36
The Lady Tigers defeated Fairview to advance to the championship game.

Marchbanks finished with 13 points to lead Hartselle, while Cartee had 10 and Alyssa McMinemon added nine points.

Molly McKelvy finished with a game-high 17 points to lead Fairview.

Falkville 56, West Morgan 43
Falkville defeated West Morgan 56-43 in the West Morgan Christmas Tournament on Wednesday.

Sydnee Fitzgerald finished with 20 points, eight rebounds, and six steals to lead the Lady Blue Devils. Makenzie Veal had nine points and 11 rebounds, while Savannah Fowler added 10 points and six rebounds.

Karly Terry and Morgan Mosley each had 11 points to lead West Morgan.

Falkville 53, Arab 33
The Lady Blue Devils finished the tournament with a 53-33 win over Arab.

Fitzgerald finished with 14 points and eight rebounds for the Blue Devils (14-4). Veal added 11 points and Ellie Cate Hill had nine points and five steals.

Laney Kelley had 10 points to lead Arab.

Chelsea 56, Priceville 34

Priceville fell to Chelsea 56-34 in a game played at Mortimer Jordan on Wednesday afternoon.

Abigail Garrison had 11 points and five rebounds to lead Priceville (12-5). Jenna Walker added seven points, while Zoey Benson had four points and 10 rebounds.

Ellen Fleming scored a game-high 20 points to lead Chelsea. Mackenzie Titus added 14 points.
