Are you a disciple making disciples?

By Todd Barrier

Voting day is a great day. It’s a day when we can thank God that we are blessed enough to live in a place where we have some sort of say in what happens within our government; not all countries citizens can say that.

This year‘s voting day was just like most past voting days

On my way to work, each polling place I passed had long lines of people waiting to get in and take part in their civic right.

It got me thinking about something.

Sunday mornings: What a glorious sight it would be to see that kind of excitement and numbers on the way into the church building on the day God has set aside for us to worship Him together! People in big numbers waiting together, fellowshipping, talking and ready to be involved in their sacred duty.

How can we accomplish that? We have to be disciples who make disciples!

If we want the same kind of fellowship and excitement we have for our country, we have to have even more of that for our God and show other people that it’s much more important to pledge allegiance to God!

He explains the process in His Word. In Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, [even] to the end of the age.

Disciples who make disciples! That’s how we accomplish the same kind of excitement every Lord’s day that we muster up every two to four years on election day.

As great as the country we live in is, the place we strive to spend eternity is so much greater! Are you a disciple making disciples?
