Val Kilmer has played iconic roles in his lifetime. In the story of his life, he includes an update on his health after having throat cancer. He shares his history with women, his love of poetry and his spiritual side. Who is Val Kilmer really?  

Which character he has portrayed is your favorite?  

I enjoyed this book because of his honesty and his sense of humor. When we open our doors again, I hope you will check out this unusual memoir. 

Title: “Who Is Temple Grandin?” 

Author: Patricia Brenna Demuth 

Interest level: Ages 8-12 

This is another book in the popular “Who is/Who was” series. This book introduces readers to Temple Grandin, one of the most well-known and successful adults diagnosed with autism.   

Although Ms. Grandin was not diagnosed until she was in her 40s, she knew from an early age she was different. The author, Patricia Brenna Demuth, describes Ms. Grandin’s hypersensitivity to her environment, her confusion in trying to understand the behavior of others and the ridicule, teasing and bullying of students at school.   

Ms. Demuth also describes Ms. Grandin’s triumph at learning to cope and turning her insights and unique perspective into a career that revolutionized the American meat–packing industry. Ms. Grandin developed and spearheaded the drive for humane treatment of cattle before their processing.   

This is an excellent biography of an amazing woman.
