Blue defeats Red 55-0 in battle of Devils

Falkville closed out the 2019 regular season with a 55-0 victory over the one-win Elkmont Red Devils  Friday night at Burl Vest Stadium. 

The Blue Devils got two Christian Angulo touchdown runs of three yards and six yards to take a 14-0 lead after the first quarter. 

Falkville got a four-yard touchdown from Peyton Sallee, an eight-yard scoring run from Kaden Bennett and a 23-yard touchdown pass from Sallee to Angulo in the second quarter. Going into halftime, the Blue Devils led 34-0. 

The Blue Devils added three more scores in the second half to put the game away. Angulo scored his fourth touchdown of the game on a 53-yard run, and Jordan Greenfield and Caden Burnett added touchdown runs to close it out. 

Falkville finished the game with 452 yards of total offense – 305 yards rushing and 147 yards passing. 

Angulo led the Blue Devils’ attack with 158 yards rushing, three touchdowns on 11 carries, 62 yards receiving and a score on three receptions. He finished the night with 220 yards of total offense and four scores. 

Greenfield added 67 yards rushing and a score on nine carries, while Sallee finished 11 of 16 for 147 yards and a score. 

Falkville’s defense combined for five sacks – three from Luke Fitzgerald – and one interception by Andrew Jones. 

Falkville (6-4) now shifts focus to the first round of the playoffs Friday night. The Blue Devils will travel to Waterloo for a matchup against the 8-2 Cougars.
