LifeSouth calls for community donations

LifeSouth will hold a blood drive in the Walgreens parking lot in Hartselle July 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The drive comes after the organization declared a national and local shortage of blood supply.

According to a press release from the organization, donations are typically slow in the summer but have been “especially difficult” in north Alabama this year. The release stated all blood types are needed, and veteran and new donors are encouraged to donate.

Community members can attend this local drive or visit one of the donor centers. A complete list of donor sites can be found at lifesouth.org

According to the press release, donations will help supply local hospitals such as Huntsville Hospital, Marshall Medical Centers, Decatur Morgan Hospital, Cullman Regional and North Alabama Medical Center.
