Charlotte Keel Smith 

Trinity 

Charlotte Keel Smith, 57, of Trinity, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family July 1 after an extended battle with cancer. Charlotte was born Sept. 18, 1961, to Martha Keel Fulmer and Ellis C. Keel. She attended Hartselle High School and Calhoun Community College. She retired from GE Appliances after 30 years. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry Don Smith, half-sister Diane Murphy and father-in-law, Doyle D. Bryant. 

Her funeral service was July 5 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Henderson officiating and burial in Bell Springs Cemetery. 

Survivors include her daughter, Amy Bryant Earls; granddaughter, Ava Elizabeth Earls; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herbert and Shirley Smith; mother-in-law, Joyce Bryant; two half-brothers, Wayne Keel and Anthony Fulmer; three half-sisters, Jeanette Byars, Brenda Robinson and Janice Stewart; and cherished dog, Ramrod. 

Pallbearers were family and friends. 

The family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice of the Valley and caregivers Rita Cagle and Nita “Granny” Nicholson. 

Betty Sue Stringer 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for Betty Sue Stringer, 79, of Hartselle, was held at 11 a.m. July 5 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with Mac Buttram officiating. Interment was at Cullman Heritage Cemetery. Cullman Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Stringer passed away July 2, at her residence. She was born June 23, 1940, to William Paul and Nellie Ellen Dawson. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Stringer; parents; and siblings, Bobby Dawson, Frances Whitehead and Pauline Douglas. Survivors include her daughter, Suellen Stringer (Tim) Guthrie; sons, Scott (Leslie) Stringer and Herman Paul (Pam) Stringer; brothers, Harold (Peggy) Dawson and Thomas (Claudia) Dawson; sister-in-law, Ellen Dawson; grandchildren, Justin Stringer, Alex (Chris) Jones, Magan (Ryan) Culler, Sara Katherine Guthrie, Seth Douglas (Jennifer) Guthrie, Zac Stringer and Brant Stringer; and six great-grandchildren.

Wendell “Red” Lemmond 

Falkville 

Funeral service for Wendell “Red” Lemmond, age 82, of Falkville was July 6 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with brother Pearl Jenkins officiating and burial in the Center Springs Cemetery in Somerville with military honors. 

Mr. Lemmond, who was born March 24, 1937, in Morgan County to Everett C. Lemmond and Irene Blankenship Lemmond, died July 3 at Summerford Nursing Home. He was retired from Ebasco Services, where he worked as a welding engineer specializing in nuclear plant construction. He loved and enjoyed playing music and playing golf. He gave his life to the Lord at age 81 and was baptized at Roundtop Community Church. 

He is survived by a son, Lavoyd Lemmond (Carisa); two daughters, Loretta Halbrooks and Lavon Halbrooks (Ivan); two brothers, Carlton Lemmond (Debra) and Marshall Lemmond (Zhefei); two sisters, Jan Orme (Bill) and Carolyn Roberts (Robert); and eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. 

Thomas A. Campbell 

Hartselle 

Thomas A. Campbell, 87, of Hartselle passed away July 6 at Decatur-Morgan Hospital. He was born July 15, 1931, in Waggoner, Ill., to Herbert Street Campbell and Alma Leola Harbert Campbell. 

Mr. Campbell served in the United States Air Force for 21 years, serving as a fighter pilot. His rank was lieutenant colonel, United States Air Force, retired. Mr. Campbell was honored to be a member of the Legion of Valor. He served in rescue operations in Vietnam and was awarded the U.S. Cross. He was a member of CSARS, Combat Search and Rescue. Thomas lived by the Air Force Motto, “We did our best so others may live.” 

No services are planned at this time. 

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ada Campbell; two sons, Eric Wayne (Jill) Campbell and David Thomas (Debby) Campbell; two daughters, Lynette Hancock and Suzanne (Dr. Roger) Moss; two sisters, Estelle Franz and Catherine Hoehn; and granddaughter, Clarissa (Christopher) Scotti. 

Vivian Widener 

Eva 

Funeral service for Vivian Widener, 93, was July 9 at 2 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Randy Sellers officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Etha Baptist Church Cemetery. 

Mrs. Widener died July 7 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Morgan County to Dee Estress Fowler and Iva Bell Murphree. 

Vivian was a homemaker for her family and a very loving Mother and “Granny” to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always placed her family above herself and taught selfless love by example. 

“Mama” leaves a void in the lives of her family that no one can fill, but we have the assurance that we will see her again. 

Preceding her in death were her husband, Jessie Widener; a son, Billy Widener; a granddaughter, Amanda Humphrey; five brothers, Afton, Arvil, William, Bobby and Wendell Fowler; and her parents. 

Survivors include three sons, Jimmie Widener, Frankie Widener and Johnny Widener; four daughters, Peggie Humphrey (Morris), Bettie Young (Rick), Polly Miller (Rickey) and Sarah Hanvey; two brothers, Johnny Fowler and Ray Fowler; one sister, Jean Fowler Graham; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers were Randy Humphrey, Jason Hanvey, Jessie Hanvey, Michael Moss, Matthew Widener, Jeremy Widener. Braxton Murphree and Brian Wright.
