Hulon E. Pounders

Funeral for Hulon E. Pounders, 82, of Decatur, formerly of Hartselle, will be Sunday, April 17, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Bill Hall and Dr. Andrew Dukes officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 16, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Pounders died Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Cedar Springs Senior Campus. He was born, May 31, 1928, in Franklin County to Denvird Pounders and Rosie Lee Fowler Pounders. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marvilois Pounders; his parents; a brother, Harold Wayne Pounders; and a sister, Peggy Fleming. He was a member of the Westview Church of Christ, served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and served on the Hartselle City Council for 12 years. He coached Dixie youth baseball and the 13/14 year old baseball field at Sparkman Park in Hartselle is named after him.

He is survived by a son, David Michael Pounders of Madison; two daughters, Susan J. Wallace and Joanne Buffaloe and husband Greg, all of Decatur; six grandchildren, Brian D. Wallace, Ginni R. Morris, Josh Drake, Ben Drake, Lauron Drake and Alexe Pounders; and three great-grandchildren, Shelby Wallace, Hensley Sammons and Gabi Fox.

Pallbearers will be Josh Drake, Ben Drake, Brian Wallace, Darrell Fox, Greg Buffaloe and Danny Wallace.
