Funeral service for Margaret Laverne Higdon, 87, was Sun., Jan. 8, at 2 p.m. at New Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Smothers officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in New Friendship Cemetery.
Mrs. Higdon died on Wed., Jan. 4, 2017 at The Terrrace at Priceville.  She was born July 13, 1929, in Morgan County to Madison Quinsby Cook and Annie Mattie (Williams) Cook.  She was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and being a homemaker. Her children were her life and she dedicated it to them. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Ray Higdon and a grandson, Christopher Daniel Higdon.

Survivors include, two sons, Danny Ray Higdon, Guntersville, AL and Dale Higdon, Somerville, AL; one daughter, Janice Higdon Lorance, Somerville, AL; one brother, Billy Mack Cook, Cotaco, AL; one sister, Virginia Riley, Somerville, AL; 6 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
