The Hartselle Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association will hold the second annual L.E.A.D Day on Sat., May 14, at Hartselle’s E.A.R.T.H. Park. The event will begin at 11 a.m. and conclude at 2 p.m.  All Law Enforcement personnel, their families and all members of the community are invited to come by for free popcorn, hot dogs, shaved ice and drinks. There will also be cotton candy, helium balloons, police badge stickers and much more.

There will be displays of law enforcement vehicles on display and a boat from the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

The event is held in conjunction with National Police Week, which is May 15 through May 21, 2016. May 15 is “Peace Officers Memorial Day” in memory of those who have lost their lives while serving.

Blue ribbons will be handed out to be worn or for display on vehicles to show support and remember the fallen during “National Police Week.”

Hartselle Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association president, Todd White says “we hold this event to show our recognition and appreciation for the efforts of those that serve and protect, to those who risk their lives on our behalf. Whether it is raising funds to provide go-bags with emergency medical supplies, helping with the handgun safety class or traffic control at special events, or just providing a meal, it is the least we can do.”

The HCPAAA will also host a luncheon for local law enforcement officers on May 17 at the Special Services Division Office on Sherrill Street.
