LETTER: Give a Christmas gift to all children

Dear Editor,

As we approach the completion of SNAP, I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the faithful and unrelenting SNAP volunteers and the 450 cash and in-kind donors who, during the past eight years, have so generously supported the project. As a result of your support, the SNAP project, with an overall projected value of $925,000, is scheduled for completion in 2015.

Having been closely involved in daily activities surrounding the project, I have accumulated a vast treasure of cherished experiences and memories. These alone could provide a chapter in the chronicles of SNAP. An example, which I believe epitomizes SNAP, is that one hot summer day in 2010, I heard a young boy (about six years of age) say to his father as they approached the splash pad, “ I just love this place.” How better could one express the encompassing allure of SNAP? Indeed, those who have touched and been touched by the project have undoubtedly shared similar experiences.

As we approach Christmas and a new year, I extend to you my most sincere appreciation for your compassionate and generous support to help assure that Morgan County will soon have a comprehensive, all-inclusive play complex for the 2500 special needs children and all other children in the county. Because of you, SNAP’s motto “Because Every Child Deserves a Playground” will have been fulfilled.

I am humbled and honored to have been involved in this compelling project.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Bob Francis

SNAP Project Manager
