Frank D. Hanners

Funeral for Frank D. Hanners, 78, of Hartselle will be Sun., Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. at New Center Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben Bates and Bro. Ralph Henderson officiating with Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Visitation will be Sat., Dec. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Hanners died on Thur., Dec. 18, 2014, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born Sept. 5, 1936, in Morgan County to Felton Thomas Hanners and Vennie Mae Yeager Hanners. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a faithful member of New Center Baptist Church. He retired from Sexton Can Company in Decatur. He loved the Atlanta Braves, Alabama football, and NASCAR. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his former wife, Ruth McCormick Hanners.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Collins Hanners; a son, Felton Hanners (Pam) of Hartselle; two step-daughters, Samantha Collins and Peggy Shepard, both of Somerville; a sister, Lee Ree Hall of Hartselle; a granddaughter, Nina Jones; step grandsons, Brandon Cole and Richard Shepard; step granddaughter, Caroline Shepard; great grandchild, Addison Kate Jones; step great-grandchildren, Lily Shepard and Nathan Shepard.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Jones, Ricky Tolbert, David Hamm, Tim McCormick, Dale McMinemon, Tommy Adcock and Randall Roy.

Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Nuby, Jr., Donnie Teeples, Milton Montgomery, and Von Yeager.
