Morgan County BOE okays school calendar

The Morgan County School Board approved a calendar for the 2015-2016 school year at its regular meeting Nov.13.

The calendar coincides with those previously approved for Hartselle City and Decatur City School systems. It is listed as follows:

Aug.  5  – FLEX PD Day

6  – FLEX Work Day

7  – PD (Mini Mega)

10 – Work day

11 – Institute

12 – First day for students

Sept .   7 – Labor Day – schools closed

16 – Early release day (students dismissed at 12:30)

Oct.     9 – End of first grading period

12-13 – Fall break (schools closed)

28 – Early release day (students dismissed at 12:30)

Nov.   25-27 – Thanksgiving holidays (schools closed)

Dec.    18 – Early release day (students dismissed at 12:30)

18 – End of the second grading period

21-Jan.1 – Christmas break (schools closed)

Jan.       4 – Work day

5 – Students return to school

18 – MLK Day (schools closed)

Feb.     10 – Early release day (students dismissed at noon)

15 – Schools closed (weather day)

March    9 – Early release day (students dismissed at noon).

11 – End of third grading period

21-25   – Spring break (schools closed)

April     22 – Weather day

May        6 – Weather day

26 – Last day for students

27 – Teacher workday

29 – Memorial Day
