James Henderson, a retired Army colonel, defense industry manager and television station owner, is seeking a seat on the Morgan County GOP Executive Committee. His candidacy is subject to the June 3 Primary Election.

Henderson said he made the decision to get more involved in politics out of a growing concern for troubling issues and problems in government, and the need to revert back to the principles and values that made our nation great.

‘I’m a tested and proven conservative,” he pointed out, “and I’m committed to economic development and jobs, a defender of the Constitution, limited government, the free market, traditional family values and personal accountability.”

A Vietnam veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star, Henderson holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees form UNA and is state certified as a high school math and science teacher. He currently is employed as a manager in the defense ministry and is owner of WMJN TV station. His 27-year career in business includes commanding the Pueblo Army Depot in Colorado, an industrial plant with a civilian workforce represented by three different unions.

He and his wife Carol were awarded the Point Mallard Spirit of American Humanitarian Award in 2010 for providing food for people in need, giving support to active military, veterans and their families, founding the Rose of Sharon Home for pregnant and troubled girls and conjuring a jail and prison ministry for over 15 years, in addition to being a state leader in defense of the sanctity of human life.

“I stay abreast of current issues and look at problems from a solution-finding point of view,” Henderson stated. “I look at my candidacy as an opportunity to stand for what’s right and make a difference for Morgan County and its people.”

The Hendersons reside in Priceville. They have four children and 11 grandchildren.
