James “Jimmy” Lewis Gray Jr.

Funeral  for James “Jimmy” Lewis Gray, Jr., 67, of Hartselle will be Wed., (today), Feb. 19, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Bumgart officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Falkville City Cemetery. Visitation will be Wed., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Gray died Sun., Feb. 16, 2014, at River City Care & Rehab. He was born Feb. 12, 1947, in Morgan County to James Lewis Gray and Novajo Scott Gray. He was retired from D.O.D. after 37 years of service. He was in the Army in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War, where he was a communications officer on secret missions with the CIA and Diplomats. He was the president of Buck Hollow Hunting Club. He was an avid hunter, killing more than 100 deer in his lifetime. He loved teaching his children, grandchildren and nephews to hunt. Some of his fondest memories were of hunting with his uncle, Max Gray. He was the treasurer for W.O.W. Lodge 193. He was preceded in by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy McDonald Gray of Hartselle; a son, Jeremy Shane Gray of Hartselle; a daughter, Jessica Gray Shadden of Falkville; a sister Teresa Gray Bumgart of Falkville; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Bray McDonald, Roger Hollaway, Scott Dotson, Brandon Dotson, Nic Bumgart and Luke Bumgart.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Robert Allen, Charles Prickett, Betty Wright and Teresa Bumgart.
