Morgan County Commission meeting notes

The Morgan County Commission met in regular session on Tuesday, acting on 13 business items, as follows:

•Authorized a $122,951.30 sales tax refund, which was collected in error, to 3M company.

•Approved a $1,000 donation to the Walking Horse Association of Alabama (Jubilee Charity Horse Show), payable out of the Tourism, Recreation & Convention Fund.

•Authorized the chairman to execute the grant agreement from the Alabama Department of Youth Services for $350,000 for residential and non-residential services for Morgan County youth who would otherwise be committed to the Department of Youth Services.

•Approved the use of Capital Improvements Funds totaling $11,942 for the painting of the Decatur-Morgan County Entrepreneurial Center.

•Authorized Chairman Ray Long to fill the vacant position of administrative assistant, Grade 4 ($12.40 – $16.19), effective Nov. 3, 2013.

•Approved checks totaling $5,102,718.91 for the month of September 2013.

•Authorized the chairman to execute Amendment 1 to Clarity Election Suite Hosting and Support Agreement for $30,691 to be paid in full in three years out of the election budget.

•Approved payment of $23,816.50 to ETech Construction for work on the Somerville Senior Center project.

•Approved payment of $16,111 to Volkert Inc. for program management Services on the Morgan County Jail Annex project

•Approved payment of $12,065 to Triple J. Construction LLC for work on the MCATS sidewalk project.

•Authorized the chairman to solicit bids for the printing of the county’s bi-monthly newsletter.
