Seniors have melon party

Services at Falkville United Methodist Church are held with Sunday worship service at 11 a.m. and Bible study Friday mornings. Dr. John Russell is the minister.

A watermelon party was held at Falkville Senior Citizen Center on Culver Road last Wednesday. Among those enjoying this event were Bobby and Linda Ball, Charles and Linda Williams, Carol Cole, Patsy Clemons, Vivian Summerford, Faye Anders, Movlyn Roberson, Terry and Jeannie Kelso and Barbara Asherbranner. They also ate lunch together.

Gayle O’Hara and granddaughter Kayla of New Jersey have returned home after a visit with relatives here and in Birmingham.

Maria Daws celebrated her birthday Mon., July 1, with husband Jimmy Daws and 12 friends and family members at her home.

Carrot cake and other party goodies were served. The honoree is the granddaughter of Alice Holmes.

Visiting with Herman and Adell Gibson were Melvin Hudson, Rosemary and Rebecca Kirk of Hartselle, Howard and Helen Gibson of Priceville and J.C. and Margaret Dunaway.

June Graham and her two children, Nelson and Scarlett, have returned home after a vacation to Orange Beach.

Get well wishes are extended to Austin Hicks from Gandy’s Cove Methodist Church members.

Ralph and Mary Alice Nelson celebrated their wedding anniversary Sun., July 7. They were married at Gandy’s Cove Methodist Church in 1957. Mrs. Nelson was the former Mary Alice Morris.

Spending the holiday weekend with O’Neal and Margaret Murphy were their son and his family, Brian and Carol Murphy and daughter Autumn, all of Tuscaloosa.

Gandy’s Cove United Methodist Church services are: worship service Sunday at 9 a.m. and Sunday school at 10:15 a.m. Dr. John Russell is the minister.
