Karen Jean Oliver ‘Sadie’ Himes

Funeral for Karen Jean Oliver “Sadie” Himes, 66, of Mesa, Ariz., will be Fri., July 12, at 11 a.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at Fri., July 12, at 10 a.m.

Ms. Himes died June 8, 2013, surrounded by her family at her daughter’s home after a battle with lung cancer. She was born June 1, 1947 in Chicago, Ill., to Hayes and Wilma Oliver. Her father was a Nazarene minister, and Karen grew up moving around the south, primarily Tennessee, and was well known for her Southern accent. She was recently retired and living in Mesa, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her children, Mike Best and wife Patty of Richmond, Ind., KC Shuford and husband Danny of Fla., Leslie Daniels and husband Dave of Mesa, Ariz., Lisa Warner and husband Josh of Ariz.; sister, Sandy Heatherly and husband Oliver of Hartselle; nephew Nick Heatherly and wife Marilyn; 10 grandchildren, Lauren, Rebekah, Alex, Ryan, Ashley, Michael, Ben, Sam, Matthew and Lilliana; great-nephew Hayes; and a great niece Eve, both of Hartselle.
